Health trail in Laukezers Nature Park
The Laukezers Nature Park is a protected area of European significance under the Natura 2000 programme.
The main attraction of the nature park is Laukezers, which is home to several protected habitats of European and Latvian significance — a mesotrophic lake, a soft water lake with Isoetes, Lobelia and Littorella plants. Also valuable are the Ildzenieki and Baltiņu lakes, which contain protected habitats of European and Latvian significance, a lake with rich rare and specially protected relict aquatic plant communities.
Several recreation areas have been set up near Laukezers, Baltiņš Lake and Ildzenieki Lake. Active recreation enthusiasts can enjoy a well-maintained walking and cycling health trail in the nature park.
The health trail is 7.15 km long and features posters with exercises for different age groups, signposts, information boards, benches, litter bins, a viewing platform and various exercise equipment. It is suitable for all kinds of sports - running, Nordic walking, cycling, as well as simple walks in the fresh air.
In the Laukezers Nature Park, the health trail forms a closed circle. It starts at the intersection of the Zīlāni–Galvānkalns road (V825) and municipal road 6-46 ‘Ceļš uz Laukiem’ and leads through a pine and spruce forest with steep slopes and ravines, marshy and unique landscapes.
